Euro 2016: study on the economic impact (€1.2bn in economic impact in France)

"Euro 2016 generated €1.2bn in economic impact in France, including €625.8m for the tourism sector and €596m for the organisational component," according to the French Ministry of the City, Youth, and Sports, in releasing the study on the economic impact of the Euro, on 10/01/2017.

"In total, about 200 000 people were involved in the preparations for the competition. 20,000 jobs were created thanks to the modernisation of stadiums ahead of the competition. During the event, 13,500 jobs were expressed, half of this in the field of private security. In addition, training was funded and undertaken for 3,400 private security officers. The study confirms that Euro 2016 generated a net volume of additional activity of 117,150 of months worked, and a total of 9762 full-time jobs in 2016," reads the study, supervised by the Observatoire de l'économie du sport, and produced by the CDES of Limoges (FRA) and the consulting firm Keneo.
