"There is no evidence of systematic doping in Turkish football," indicated FIFA’s (International Federation of Football Associations) chief medical officer professor Jiri Dvorak, on the 05/08/2013. "The FIFA Anti-Doping Unit has analysed more than 600 samples coming from Turkish football over the past year and the initial findings did not reveal any suspicious cases," said FIFA.

"Following the recent alarming reports of doping with anabolic steroids in Turkish sport involving athletes, weightlifters and wrestlers, FIFA was concerned (...) and decided to check if football was also hit," added the International Federation in a statement.

In addition to the 600 reviews, "a random selection of 50 samples were reanalyzed by the anti-doping laboratory in Cologne (Germany), using the recent method of mass spectrometry with high resolution. Again, all results were negative," explained FIFA.
