Relegation aid: Germany only country of the Top 5 leagues which does not to provide "parachutes"

Germany is the only country of the Top 5 leagues which has not established a system of "parachute payments", or amounts specifically allocated to relegated clubs to help them cope with the decrease in revenue. However, one of the key components in the distribution of the domestic TV revenue for the 2014-2017 cycle of German professional football is 80% for the Bundesliga with 20% reserved for the 2.Bundesliga.

Parachutes payments, however, do exist for clubs relegated from Ligue 1, the Serie A TIM, the Premier League, and the LaLiga Santander. In Spain and France, there is even a parachute payment for demotion from the second division to third division: from 2016-17 in Spain, 3.5% of audiovisual revenues are reserved for relegated clubs, and of this amount 10% is dedicated to the four clubs relegated from the Laliga 1|2|3 to the Segunda División B (Spanish third division). In France, each club relegated from Domino's Ligue 2 to the National (French third division) receives €0.7m in its first season after relegation, and €0.35m for the second season if it remains in the National…
