Media: Globo sells non-exclusive broadcast rights to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil to Fox Sports

Pay-TV channel Fox Sports Brazil has acquired the non-exclusive broadcast rights to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as part of a licensing agreement with Brazilian broadcaster Globo, the competition's rights holder, on the 13/08/2013. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

On the pay-TV market, Fox Sports Brazil (launched in the country in February 2012) will broadcast the competition alongside SporTV, owned by the Globo group, ESPN Brazil, and Bandsports, which is part of the Bandeirantes group. The American network also announced the creation of a new channel, Fox Sport 2, to broadcast all 64 matches of the 2014 World Cup (from the 12/06 to the 13/07/2014).

The competition will also be broadcast in Brazil on free-to-air channels Rede Globo and Band, a property of the Bandeirantes group.
