Sky Sports, the British pay-TV operator, equipped a player with a camera on the stomach at the Betfred Super League (rugby league with 11 English and one French first division teams) match between Leigh Centurions - Warrington Wolves, on 16/02/2017. The use of this "playercam" was subject to health and safety checks.

The camera was installed on Kurt Gidley, a Warrington player, with a special vest and a hole in the front of the kit. The camera was produced by the company First Vision, which has already created similar cameras for ice hockey and basketball.

"We are constantly working to deliver the very best coverage for our viewers and playercam will bring a brand new angle to our broadcast by showing the game from a player's perspective," said Neville Smtih, head of rugby league for Sky Sports.
