Brazil: The World Anti-Doping Agency revokes accreditation of Rio control laboratory

WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) has revoked the accreditation of doping control Ladetec laboratory in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), due to non-compliance with the ISL (International Standard for Laboratories) and related technical documents, on the 27/08/2013. WADA's Disciplinary Committee had suspended the laboratory accreditation on the 08/08/2013.

Revocation of the laboratory's accreditation happens less than 10 months before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil starts, from the 12/06/2013 to the 13/07/2013, during which FIFA's (Federation International Football Associations) doping control agents will perform blood and urine tests, in collaboration with WADA. Other accredited laboratories in the region are located in Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.

Revocation, which will enter into force on the 25/09/2013, implies that the laboratory can not perform drug testing for WADA or any other authority. By then, all its activities are suspended.
