Women's football: "the process of professionalisation is well underway" (CIES)

An analysis done on women's football "in five of the world's most developed leagues" (France, Germany, England, Sweden, and the United States) has found that "the process of professionalisation is well underway", according to the monthly report by the Football Observatory website of the International Centre for Sports Studies published on 08/06/2017.

This report by the CIES Football Observatory, done on 01/06/2017 after taking into account the composition of clubs from the four European countries for the entire 2016-17 season and the Women’s National Soccer League in the United States for April and May 2017 (the NWSL is played every year from April to October), explained that international movement in women's football is multiplying (5.1 per team expatriated on average) and that the best performing clubs play with footballers imported from abroad.
