LaLiga Santander: City Football Group acquires 44.3% of Girona FC

Girona FC (promoted to LaLiga Santander for 2017-18) announced "the signing of an agreement to bring the club into the hands of new owners, namely City Football Group and Girona Football Group, which each acquired 44.3% of its shares," on 23/08/2017.

"The operation will allow the club to benefit from the knowledge and varied experience of City Football Group, as well as its extensive infrastructure network, technical teams, talent acquisition, youth player development and executive leadership, not to mention the global resources, marketing and commercial potential of the group," said Girona FC.

"The long-term strategy of the City Football Group and respect for the legacy of its clubs has been evident in all investments made so far. We feel privileged to be part of this large family," said Delfí Geli, president of Girona FC.
