"The renovation of Santiago Bernabeu stadium will cost between €300m and €400m. We hope that during the coming weeks we will be able to announce the project chosen to be carried out," said Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, during the 2013 general meeting for societary members, on the 21/09/2013.

The club has unveiled four rehabilitation projects of the stadium in October 2012, during the previous meeting. Real Madrid want to increase the stadium capacity by 10,000 seats, to bring it to 95,000 seats.

The projects include a redesign of the outside, as well as a roof, the establishment of shops and the expansion of hospitality areas to increase revenue on match days.

The Santiago Bernabeu has been Real Madrid's stadium since 1947. Initially called "New stadium Chamartin" because of the name of the district where it is located, it has been named since the 01/04/1955 after the man who was president of Real Madrid from the 15/09/1943 to his death on the 02/06/1978.
