Twitter: Manchester United open Indonesian, Malay and Spanish accounts

Manchester United (Premier League) are developing their strategy on the microblogging site Twitter, opening pages in Malay (@ManUtd_ MY), Indonesian (@ManUtd_ID) and Spanish (@ManUtd_ES) on the 23/09/2013.

Since the 10/07/2013, United have a Twitter page in English (@ManUtd), with more than one million followers and a Japanese version (@ManUtd_JP).

Liverpool FC are the club that have extended their Twitter strategy as far as possible in Asia, by opening seven official accounts (Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and South Korea). This ambitious policy is necessarily accompanied by the recruitment in these countries of people trained in community management.

  • Manchester United have over 34 million fans on their Facebook page, launched in 2010
  • The club has launched pages on American social networks Google+ and Instagram, as well as on Chinese platform Renren, on the 08/08/2013
  • MU are also present on Sina Weibo (the Twitter equivalent in China) since the 10/07/2013
