Borussia Dortmund: record turnover of €405.7m for the 2016-17 season (+7.8%)

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) recorded a record turnover of €405.7m in the 2016-17 fiscal year (from 01/07/2016 to 30/06/2017), up 7.8% compared to the previous year (€376.3m), the club announced on 25/08/2017. This increase is mainly due to revenue from the Champions League (€51m) compared to that from the Europa League the previous year (€17.2m).

Excluding gains from player trading, the Borussia Dortmund revenues increased by 16.8% in 2016-17, reaching €328.4m (compared with €281.3m in 2015-16). Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA posted an EBITDA of €74m on 30/06/2017, down 14.6% year-on-year (€86.7m in 2015-16) and a net profit of €8.2m (€29.4m in 2015-16).

"We broke our sales wall. We were only planning to do so in 2019. From 2011 to 2017, we achieved a total profit of €134m euros after taxes, making us one of the most profitable companies in Europe," stated Hans-Joachim Watzke, the CEO of the club, during the presentation the financial results on 25/08/2017. The latter also announced that the value of the club would be greater than one billion euros.
