England: player wants to sue FIFA and the international transfer system

English player Joe Yoffe is considering suing FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) due to international transfer rules that limit, he said, the mobility of players outside the transfer window, the British press announced, on the 24/09/2013.

"A couple of lawyers have already said they'd like to take the case," said the 26-year-old man, currently playing for UMF Selfoss (Iceland's second division), but whose contract expires at the end of September 2013 ."I don't think it's Fifa's idea to obstruct any player. They have the rules in place for what they see as perfect sense, but there is a grey area. It is quite messy," he added.

Joe Yoffe "feels strongly" about suing FIFA: "Some I know are signing shorter deals which means their contract expires before the window closes. It protects them and they don't have to go four months without a club," added the player born in Manchester, who played in the United States, Canada and Australia before joining Iceland.
