Facebook: 235.12 million fans in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (September 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative 235.12 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data recorded by News Tank Football on 01/09/2017. This total makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular European Top 5 league on Facebook, behind the Premier League, with an average of 11.76 million fans per club.

Real Madrid is the most followed Spanish club with 105.88 million Facebook fans. The defending Spanish champions and winner of the 2016-17 Champions League is also the fastest growing club with more than 1 million additional subscribers (+1%) in August 2017. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF together have 209.34 million fans, or nearly 89% of the total of all LaLiga Santander clubs, and more than the 58 clubs of the Serie A TIM, the Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 Conforama combined.

At 11.7%, (from 64,356 to 71,915), Girona FC, promoted from LaLiga 1|2|3, is the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander club with the best percentage growth on Facebook for the third consecutive month. In total, 10 clubs drew more than 1,500 fans in August 2017.
