Twitter: 60.4 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (September 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 Premier League season have a cumulative 60.4 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data recorded by News Tank Football on 01/09/2017. The Premier League ranks first in the European Top 5 leagues, with an average of 3.02 million followers per club.

Manchester United, with 13.7 million followers, recorded the biggest increase (+9.3%, excluding promosted clubs) compared to the beginning of August 2017 (+1,166,839 followers). Five Premier League clubs -- Arsenal FC (2nd, 11.25 million), Chelsea FC (3rd, 9.79 million), Liverpool FC (4th, 8.35 million), and Manchester City FC (5th, 4.79 million) as well as Manchester United -- have more than 4 million followers, as many clubs as in the other four Top 5 leagues (Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain).

At 6.2%, (+41,501 followers), West Bromwich Albion FC recorded the second best percentage growth on Twitter in August 2017, behind Manchester United (excluding promoted clubs), for the second consecutive month after a strong result in July. In all, the 20…
