Twitter: 59.18 million followers in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (September 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative total of 59.18 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data recorded by News Tank, on 01/09/2017. This result makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular European Top 5 league on Twitter, with an average of 2.96 million followers per club, behind the Premier League (3.02 million subscribers per club).

Real Madrid CF is the most followed LaLiga Santander club, with 25.62 million followers, up 946,469 (+3.8%) compared to the beginning of August 2017. The club is the first club in Europe to exceed the 25 million followers mark on its main account.

FC Barcelona recorded the second largest increase in followers in Europe (+979,654) in August, only behind Manchester United (+1,166,839 followers). Real Madrid and Barcelona together comprise 83% of the followers of all LaLiga Santander clubs (only the main account is taken into consideration) and more than the 58 clubs of the Serie A TIM, Ligue 1 Conforama, and the Bundesliga combined (48.99 million followers compared to 45.25 million).
