"Our strategy is to find some anchor points in each country, or else you'll get lost in the relationships you are trying to build on. So know where you base point is, and for us its our supporters clubs abroad. For example, the City of Hamburg is twinned with Shanghai, so we have used this to partner with the Shanhai SIPG club in the Chinese Super League" stated Florian Riepe, senior vice-president, marketing and international markets for Hamburger SV (Bundesliga), at the Soccerex Global Convention on 06/09/2017.

The 2017 edition of the Soccerex Global Convention took place from 04 to 06/09/2017 at the Manchester Central Convention Complex in Manchester (ENG). Florian Riepe spoke in a panel titled "Club International Development Strategies", alongside Felix Welling, head of corporate development at VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga); Gema Baqué, sales and marketing director of SD Eibar (LaLiga Santander); and Drew Barrand, marketing director of the EFL.
