The general outline of the new Lega Serie A statutes have been adopted unanimously by the 18 clubs present (FC Crotone and AC Chievo Verona absent during the vote) during the General Assembly held at the headquarters of the Italian Professional League in Milan (ITA) on 06/09/2017.

"This is a historic day for the League," said Carlo Tavecchio, FIGC president and appointed Lega Serie A special commissioner on 21/04/2017 (after seven failures to appoint a president).

The text adopted by the clubs must be formally transformed into the statutes of the Lega Serie A within 20 days. It includes the creation of a board of directors with increased powers and composed of seven members:
• Three independent members (one chairman, one vice-chairman, one managing director and one secretary general).
• Four club representatives.

  • "This result was achieved thanks to the extraordinary work of the representatives of the League and the clubs. We have worked hard and I can say that we have made a big step forward," said Carlo Tavecchio on 06/09/2017.
