Champions League: France the only country in the Top 5 without games free-to-air, in 2017-18

France is the only country in the Top 5 (alongside Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy) where no Champions League game (except the final) is broadcast on a free-to-air television channel during the 2015-2018 cycle.

Celtic FC (Scottish Premiership) - Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Conforama), on Tuesday 12/09/2017 (Group B, 20:45 CET, broadcast on beIN Sports 1), and then RB Leipzig (Bundesliga) - AS Monaco (Ligue 1 Conforama), on Wednesday 13/09/2017 (Group G, 20:45, on Canal+), are the first two matches of the French representatives in the group stage of the 2017-18 Champions League, both broadcast on pay-TV channels.

This French feature is expected to disappear from 2018-19, when the other countries in the Top 5, or even all, opt for a wholly pay-TV model for the Champions League (see below).
