United Kingdom: Sky extends English Football League TV League rights for 2019-2024

The British pay-TV group Sky plc has extended its broadcasting rights, in the UK, to the English Football League (EFL) competitions for five years, "until May 2024", on 12/09/2017. The amount of the agreement, "worth £600m (£120m per year, or about €133m), represents an increase of 36% compared to the current agreement", Sky plc has extended its rights to broadcast EFL competitions, said the British newspaper The Guardian on 08/08/2017, in which Sky had entered into exclusive negotiations with the EFL to determine the duration of this new commitment (three or five years).

The agreement covers the Sky Bet Championship (second division), Sky Bet League One (third division), Sky Bet League Two (fourth division), the Carabao Cup, and the Checkatrade Trophy, as well as match summaries and video clips of all the matches of these competitions, a "26% increase in the number of matches covered." In the 2013-2019 period, Sky broadcast 145 EFL matches per season.
