The board of directors of Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) have approved the financial statements for 2016-17, with a projected profit of €5m after tax, on 13/09/2017. They have adopted a provisional budget for 2017-18 of €343m "which will be presented to the General Assembly of shareholders before the end of the year," according to the Spanish sports daily Marca on 14/09/2017.

This €343m is a record for the Madrid club and represents an increase of almost 29% compared to the €266m forecast turnover 2016-17.

While Atlético de Madrid won (1-0 against Malaga) their first match in the club's new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano (68,000 seats), on Saturday 16/09/2017, the budget estimates are up compared with objectives. "We expect to double our turnover (€150m for the 2014-15 season) over the next three seasons, and we have to do that because it will allow us to permanently maintain our place in the Top 16 of the best clubs in the world," said Miguel Angel Gil, general manager of the Madrid club on 10/02/2015.
