IBC 2017: "Facebook Watch is ideal for live sports" (Daniel Danker, Facebook)

"Video is changing the way people use the internet. Video consumption is changing, and the way people engage with video on Facebook is changing drastically. Video now represents 50% of mobile traffic, and we think this will become 75% in five years," said Daniel Danker, product director at Facebook, within the framework of the IBC 2017 (International Broadcasting Convention), in Amsterdam (NED) on 14/09/2017. The subject of the introductory session was "Fans, Friends, and the Future of Broadcasting".

"One billion people use Facebook groups every month, and in these circles you do not really connect with your closest friends, but rather people who share your topic(s) of interest. In these groups, live video accounts only for 5% of the total of live broadcasts on Facebook, but for 20% of the time consumption on Facebook Live (live streaming video service)," said Daniel Danker.
