Premier League: record turnover of £581.2m for Manchester United in 2016-17 (+12.8%)

Manchester United FC (Premier League) achieved a record turnover of £581.2m (€662.9m) in the 2017 fiscal year (from 01/07/2016 to 30/06/2017), up 12.8% compared to 2016 (£515.3m, €610.4m), the club announced on 21/09/2017.

The club's commercial income reached a record amount of £275.5m (€314.2m, +2.7%). This revenue sector represents 47.4% of Manchester United's total revenue in 2017, compared to 52.1% in 2016.

Commercial revenue comes from three sources:
• Sponsorship revenue of £162.3m (€185.1m), up 1.4%
• Merchandising revenue of £104m (€118.6m), up 6.9%, mainly due to the record contract with adidas - which is included in this category - an amount of £750m (€853m agreed on 21/09/2017) over 10 years (from 2015-16 to 2024-25), a full year contribution, compared to an 11 month contribution for the previous year.
• Mobile and content revenue of £9.2m (€10.5m), down 15.6%.

In other record amounts, Manchester United recorded an operating profit of £80.8m (€92.2m) and net profit of £39.2m (€44.7m) for 2016-17. Audiovisual revenue reached a record amount of £194.1m (€221.4m), up 38.2…
