Brazil: Globo acquires the digital rights to the Brazilian national team for the 2017-2022 period

Globo has acquired, from the CBF, the broadcast rights, valid in Brazil for digital platforms, to the games of the Brazilian national team for the 2017-2022 period, on 21/09/2017. The Brazilian audiovisual group acquired Lot B of the tender, the floor price of which was set at $500,000 (€420,000) per game, or a total of approximately $18.5m (€15.5m).

Lot B is non-exclusive and carries, like lot A, 9 qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in the South America zone and 28 friendly matches in the "Seleçao", for a total of 37 matches (see details below). The CBF and its adviser, the media rights and sports marketing agency Synergy Football AG, launched the tender for the media rights of the Seleção matches on 30/08/2017.

Concerning Lot A, which allows the broadcast of the 37 matches on any platform (TV, internet, and/or mobile), the CBF "received the interest of several audiovisual groups, without proposals at the level of the floor price.
