CAF: Executive Committee withdraws African Nations Championship from Kenya

"With an overwhelming majority of the members present, it was decided to withdraw the African Nations Championship from Kenya in the light of the accumulated delays and various reports of the inspection missions conducted in the country, the last of which took place from 11 to 17/09/2017," said the Confederation of African Football on 25/09/2017, following the meeting of its Executive Committee in Accra (GHA) on 23/09/2017.

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is held every two years alternating with the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), and only players playing at a club in their country can participate. The organisation of the 2018 edition had been entrusted to Kenya, but it was planned that a new inspection mission would be carried out in September 2017 to evaluate the progress, after a first mission which had taken place in June 2017, according to the CAF, which met in Rabat (MAR), on 20/07/2017.
