Premier League: Sun newspaper to broadcast highlights of meetings on tablets and smartphones

Sun+, the digital version of the British newspaper The Sun, has been offering to its subscribers highlights of Premier League matches since the 28/09/2013 and the sixth day of the English championship.

The programme, entitled "Matchday Show" is available to subscribers on their tablet or smartphone from 18:30 on Saturdays. It shows the best moments of games played on Saturday afternoon, four hours before the airing of British public broadcaster BBC's "Match of the Day on Saturday."

UK News, owner of daily newspapers The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times, has acquired the digital rights to the English Premier League for the 2013-2016 period. The amount of the acquisition is estimated at £30m (€36m) over the period, or £10m (€12m) per season.

Subscription to Sun+ costs 2 pounds (€ 2.4) per week or £8.67 (€10.4) per month for an annual subscription. Subscribers have access to the digital version of The Sun and several applications, including "Goal" app, which offers videos of the goals of the English Championship every week since the beginning of the 2013/14 season.
