Spain: the public TV group TVE acquires the rights to Spain's qualifying matches for 2018-2022

The Spanish public television group TVE has acquired all Spanish-language audiovisual rights for the the Spanish national team's qualifying matches for both the Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, on 28/09/2017. The agreement, signed via CAA Eleven, the agency appointed by UEFA, also includes the rights to the Nations League. The subsidiary of the public audiovisual group will broadcast "more than 40 matches between 2018 and 2022," said TVE president José Antonio Sánchez.

The cost of the agreement could be €30m, or 23% less than the previous period according to the Spanish media. RTVE paid €39m for the domestic TV rights for the Spanish national team qualifying matches to Euro 2016 and at the 2018 World Cup, according to Leopoldo Gonzalez-Echenique, the group's president, before the Spanish chamber of deputies on 27/05/2014. RTVE acquired the TV, radio, internet, and mobile rights to the Spanish national team qualifying matches to both competitions on 14/05/2014.
