4K broadcast technology presented at the Ceatec technology fair (Japan) until the 05/10/2013

The 4K broadcast technology, also known as "Ultra HD," is being presented at the technology and innovation fair Ceatec, held near Tokyo (Japan) from the 01/10 to the 05/10/2013.

4K is a quality of image which features four times the resolution of the traditional Full-HD, that is to say 3840 (width) x 2160 (height) pixels, or 8.3 megapixels, as opposed to 2.1 megapixels (1920 x 1080) for the current Full-HD technology.

Leading Japanese TV sets manufacturers (Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba) participate in Ceatec to present the models they plan to sell by the end of 2013 or during the first half of 2014, ahead of the World Cup in Brazil (from the 12/06 to the 13/07/2014).

The final of the 2014 World Cup will be produced in 4K by the production teams of FIFA TV, FIFA's (Federation Internationale de Football Association) TV department, in collaboration with Sony. The video stream will be available in this format to the broadcasters of the event worldwide.
