Premier League: Facebook does not rule out bidding on TV rights for the 2019-2022 period

"The Premier League is a very important partner of ours and we work with them very closely. But it would be premature to speculate how we might approach that opportunity (the Premier League's 2019-2022 TV rights) -- it's still very early days and there is no template for this," said Dan Reed, director of sport partnerships of Facebook, on 05/10/2017, on the sidelines of the 2017 edition of the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London (ENG).

Facebook was a candidate, in the summer of 2017, to acquire the broadcast rights, in India, to the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket, with an offer estimated by the industry to be $600m (€511m on 05/10/2017). The social network -- which now offers Facebook Live and Watch services -- currently broadcasts MLB, MLS, and Champions League games in the United States.
