Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (October 2017)

With 44.88 million followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) is the most followed European club on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which maintains a Top 100 of the most popular European clubs on this social network as of 01/10/2017.

To establish this Top 100, News Tank Football counts the followers of the club's main Twitter account, but also those of the additional accounts in foreign languages. For example, FC Barcelona has fewer followers on its Spanish account than Real Madrid, second in the ranking, but the Catalan club is ahead thanks to a higher number of followers on its other accounts.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF (second with 43.26 million followers) are at the top of the European ranking, and are the only two Top 100 clubs to have more than 40 million followers each. Among the 10 most followed clubs on Twitter, besides Barça and Real, are five Premier League clubs, one from the Turkish Süper Lig, one from the Ligue 1 Conforama, and one from the Serie A TIM.
