World Cup 2022: Qatari organisers willing to adapt to a change of season

"We bid for the Fifa World Cup in summer because we saw the opportunity to present solutions for players and fans in our country, and others with similar climates. If the international football community reaches a consensus to move the event to an alternate date, we are able to accommodate that change. This would not affect our planning and preparation," said the Qatari organising committee of the 2022 World Cup, on the 03/10/2013.

On the agenda of the FIFA's (Federation Internationale de Football Association) executive committee, meeting on the 03 and 04/10/2013 at the organisation's headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland), is scheduled point 25.2, entitled "2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar: period of the competition."

Sepp Blatter asked on the 16/07/2013, for the World Cup in Qatar to be played in the winter to avoid the summer heat: "You can cool stadiums, but you can not cool the entire country," he said.
