"San Paolo will remain SSC Napoli's home," said Aurelio De Laurentiis, chairman of the Serie A club, on the 02/09/2013. He met with the mayor, Luigi De Magistris, who agreed to sell the San Paolo stadium (60,000 seats) to the Neapolitan club.

Aurelio De Laurentiis had threatened to build a stadium 40 kilometers north of the city, in Caserta, if the municipality did not sell him the San Paolo venue to build a new stadium, on the 29/09/2013.

"We reached an agreement, there will be a bilateral commission set up by the Naples Council and Napoli football club to deal with all matters relating to the stadium. We got into details, establishing a deal on the fact this stadium will be in Naples with guaranteed returns on investment. This meeting was very successful. The project will not be a mere renovation. It could also affect areas around the stadium," said the mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris.
