Sports equipment: Royer Group (New Balance, Umbro) officially acquires the Hungaria brand

The Royer Group formalised, on 16/10/2017, the acquisition of the Hungaria brand, effective on 21/07/2017. Hungaria is the equipment supplier to the French football clubs Stade de Reims and Tours FC (Domino's Ligue 2), as well as the French rugby clubs Stade Rochelais and Rugby Club Toulonnais (Top 14).

Hungaria is a French brand founded in 1931 by the Pradet brothers, which began predominately with shoes for disciplines from athletics to cycling, and then later for rugby and football. Acquired by adidas in 1976, Hungaria was dormant until Pierre Arcens, a former adidas executive, took over in 2015 and relaunched the brand commercially in 2016.

The Hungaria brand joins the sports division of the Royer Group, headed by Jean-Pierre Petit. Fabien Vancoille (ex-Nike, O'Neill, and Hungaria) took over as the head of the brand on 04/09/2017. "The employees will join their colleagues at the Sèvres site of the Royer Group to take advantage of the synergy offered by the other sports brands in this division (New Balance, Umbro)," the company said.
