UK: BT Sport freely available for 12 days in October 2013

British sports pay-TV channel Sport BT will freely offer its programs for 12 days in October 2013, the telecommunications subsidiary of BT announced, on the 04/10/2013. This initiative focuses on BT Sport 1 and 2 and American sports channels ESPN.

"We want to give even more viewers the chance to see the new programmes and live sporting action happening on BT Sport during October. Making the channels open to all allows us to show how we are offering something for everyone, from sports entertainment shows through to exclusive live sporting action," said Simon Green, director of BT Sport.

The initiative is aimed at British subscribers of pay platforms Sky (satellite) and Virgin TV (cable) that do not have a subscription to BT channels. It also targets households that receive Freeview DTT, which offers free channels and the possibility to subscribe to pay channels, including BT Sport.
