RB Leipzig (Bundesliga) - FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) (1-1, 4-5 on penalties) at the Red Bull Arena (42,959 capacity) in Leipzig, counting for the second round of the 2017-18 DFB-Pokal, drew an average of 8.89 million viewers on the public, free-TV channel ARD, and 560,000 on one of the Sky Deutschland pay-TV channel, for a total of 9.45 million, on Wednesday 25/10/2017 (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

The figure represented an average audience share of 32.5% for ARD, with a peak at 48.6%. This was the best performance of the day in the German TV market. On ARD, 9.21 million viewers on average watched into extra-time and 9.92 million during the penalty shootout from 23:20. On Sky Deutschland, 910,000 viewers watched extra-time and 860,000 watched the penalties. Altogether, ARD's combined audience with Sky was 10.12 million during extra-time and 10.78 million during the penalty shoot-out.
