2018 World Cup in Russia: $38m (€32.7m) for the winner, $28m (€24.1m) for the runner-up

The winner of the 2018 World Cup in Russia will receive $38m (€32.7m on 30/10/2017), $3m more than the $35m figure (+8.5%, €25.7m on 13/07/2014) received by Germany, the 2014 World Champions in Brazil, indicated FIFA after the meeting of its Council, in Kolkata (IND) on 27/10/2017.

The runner-up will receive $28m (€24.1m on 30/10/2017), versus $25m (€18.3m on 13/07/2014) for Argentina, the 2014 finalists. The team that finishes in third place will receive $24m (€20.6m). The minimum amount allocated to teams eliminated in the group stage has been set by FIFA at $8m (€6.9m).

"The total contributions for the participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will amount to $791m (€681m), +40% compared to the previous edition in 2014 (see infographic below). From this total, the biggest share, $400m (€344.5m on 27/10/2017), will be paid as prize money to be distributed among the 32 participating teams (12% more than the $358m/€263m figure on 13/07/2014 for the 2014 edition in Brazil)," said FIFA.
