AC Milan: one match behind closed doors because of chants expressing a "territorial discrimination"

FIFC (Italian Football Federation) has sanctioned AC Milan to one match behind closed doors for "chants of territorial discrimination made by some fans of Milan," during the match Juventus-AC Milan (3-2, on the 06/10/2013), on 07/10/2013. The Milanese club was also fined € 50,000.

AC Milan say that "the measure will be subject to an appeal, as the sanction is not justified." The fixture scheduled to be played behind closed doors will be against Milan team Udinese on the 19/10/2013.

From the 2000/01 season to the 2012/13 season, the Monitoring Centre on Racism in Italy has registered 699 cases of discrimination in Italian football, Serie A, Serie B, and Coppa Italia Primavera Championship (U21). These events have led to fines, for a total amount of € 4,042,250.
