Brazil: Globo acquires 2017-2022 TV rights to the Brazilian national team matches

The Brazilian audiovisual group Globo has acquired, for Brazil, and from the CBF, Lot A of the media rights for the Brazilian national team matches. The lot includes the broadcast of 37 matches on any broadcasting platform (TV, internet, mobile) for the 2017-2022 period, on 27/10/2017.

The tender for media rights for the matches of the "Seleção" was launched by the CBF and its advisor, the media rights and sports marketing agency Synergy Football AG, on 30/08/2017. The floor price for Lot A was set at $3.5m (€3m on 31/10/2017) per match, for a total of around $130m (€111.7m). Globo had acquired the broadcasting rights of the two friendly matches of the national team in November 2017 (against Japan at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille (FRA) on 10/11/2017, kick-off at 13:00 CET, then against England, at Wembley Stadium, London (ENG) on 14/11/2017, kick-off at 20:00 local time), indicated Brazilian media on 24/10/2017.

Globo has also acquired, for Brazil, Lot B, the rights to broadcast the matches of the Brazilian national team on digital platforms for the 2017-2022 period, on…
