Austria: Sky acquires the domestic and international rights to the Tipico Bundesliga (2018-2022)

The pay-TV group Sky Deutschland has acquired the domestic and international rights to the Tipico Bundesliga for four seasons, from 2018 until 2022, announced the Austrian League on 31/10/2017. "A binding licence agreement with Sky will be concluded shortly. The league said that the agreement would guarantee a 40-percent increase in the rights income in comparison with the current cycle," added the Bundesliga.

"Sky will have rights to 195 games from the 12-team league and will also produce the coverage. The broadcaster, which will also show online clips, will additionally sublicense rights on to a free-to-air channel for regular highlights and live coverage of four games per season," said the Austrian League.

"We are very pleased to be on track to extend this proven partnership with Sky. The significant increase in revenue is good news for Austrian football and its future development is assured," said Hans Rinner, president of the Tipico Bundesliga, on 31/10/2017.
