Serie A: the Lega plans to create its own channel for broadcasting (Discovery would produce)

The Lega Serie A plans to create three platforms for the broadcasting of a channel for the Serie A TIM (2018-2021 cycle). The channel project was presented by the firm Deloitte to the Italian League on Friday 03/11/2017, reported the Italian daily La Repubblica on 05/11/2017.

The American audiovisual conglomerate Discovery Communications would produce the channel of the League, which would use three broadcast modes: satellite, DTT, and OTT. A company titled "Distribution co." would be created to manage this project.

The three platforms would be distributed via traditional broadcasters, such as Sky Italia, Mediase, and TimVision, the domestic rights holders of the Serie A TIM for the 2015-2018 cycle:
• A "deluxe" platform, via satellite, with the games of eight teams for €29.90 per month
• A "silver" platform, via DTT, with games of six teams for €19.90 per month
• A "light" platform, via OTT, with the games of four teams for €12.90 per month.
