FIFA-FIFPro agreement: "It was about the survival of professional football!" (Philippe Piat, FIFPro)

"FIFPro, by our work, our permanent presence, and the relevance of our studies, finally rallied together all the stakeholders in the world of football, that it is to say FIFA, UEFA, clubs and league associations, and I'm just saying, for the survival of professional football, coming back to bring the situation into balance, which no longer exists today," said Philippe Piat, president of FIFPro, to News Tank Football on 10/11/2017.

FIFPro and FIFA have signed a six-year agreement "to strengthen relationships between the two organisations and improve the governance of professional football worldwide," said the international football confederation and the international footballers' union in a joint statement on 06/11/2017.

The result of negotiations, started 18 months earlier, between FIFA and the main stakeholders of football, this accord, which the signatories describe as a landmark agreement, "will profoundly change the lives of tens of thousands of footballers," said Philippe Piat.
