Italy: Rai to broadcast one Women's Serie A match per week from 02/12/2017

The Italian public TV group Rai, via an agreement with the FIGC, will broadcast one game per week of the Italian women's first division, on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon, reported the Italian daily La Repubblica on 04/11/2017. The first match, to be broadcast on free-TV channel RAI Sport+HD, will be Juventus -Brescia on Saturday 02/12/2017. The agreement, which could represent a investment costs (for production) of €160,000 for the Italian Football Federation and €100,000 for Rai, should be formalised on 20/11/2017.

"We have invested a lot, we have done it for Serie A with important clubs, we are also promoting women's football, we have matured on this, also on the cultural side," said Michele Uva, general director of the FIGC, on 04/11/2017.

Due to lack of TV broadcaster until this new agreement takes effect, the matches of the Italian women's first division are only available via the streaming platforms calciodonne.tv and oasport.it.

The other four European Top 5 countries (France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom) have at least one TV broadcaster for their women's…
