Premier League: Swansea City announce the conclusion of discussions regarding the Liberty Stadium

"Swansea City AFC is pleased to announce that discussions with Swansea Council (Wales) regarding the future running of the Liberty Stadium (21,088 capacity) have now concluded," announced the Welsh club on 06/11/2017.

Under this agreement, Swansea City AFC alone has operational control of Swansea Stadium Management Company (SSMC), the entity in charge of managing the Liberty Stadium. Coming from a tripartite agreement, SSMC had until now been run jointly by the city hall, the owner of the stadium, and the two resident clubs: Swansea City AFC and the Ospreys rugby club (Guinness Pro 14).

"As part of the new agreement (which must be approved definitively by Swansea Town Hall on 16/11/2017), the football club would have sole control of SSMC and the stadium moving forward. The agreement would also:
• Allow the council to begin receiving direct revenue from the stadium for the first time ever through guaranteed rental payments (estimated at £300,000 / €339,000 per year, for 37 years)
• Give the Swans the ability to control its own destiny and stay competitive with other Premier League clubs…
