David Barnes to succeed to Philippe Piat as President of FIFPro Division Europe

David Barnes has been appointed president of FIFPro (International Federation of Professional Footballers) Division Europe, on the 09/10/2013. The Englishman will be officially presented at the general assembly in Ljubljana (Slovenia), on the 22/10/2013.

David Barnes takes over French Philippe Piat who was appointed president of FIFPro by the board of the organisation, on the 23/09/2013. This decision will be ratified at the Congress of FIFPro, on the 22/10/2013.

"I am delighted to be in this position. I am looking forward to cooperating with all our stakeholders in Europe, such as UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues), ECA (European Club Association) and of course the European Commission," said David Barnes, on the 09/10/2013.

"Issues such as the Bosman case (15/12/1995) have proven that Europe plays a major role in the political developments and changes in the still highly conservative professional football. It is not without reason that everybody within FIFPro understands and accepts that at the moment Europe…
