Goal-line technology: GoalControl confirmed as official supplier for the 2014 World Cup

German company GoalControl has been confirmed as official supplier of the goal-line technology for the 2014 World Cup, FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) announced, on the 10/10/2013. The company won the tender process launched in April 2013 and has convinced the international body during the Confederations Cup from the 15 to the 30/06/2013.

"While there were no goal-line incidents in which the technology was required to determine whether a goal had been scored, the system met all necessary FIFA requirements and indicated every one of the 68 goals correctly," said the International Federation, about the use of GoalControl-4D during the Confederations Cup, on the 10/10/2013.

  • The use GoalControl-4D system in Brazil will be subject to a final installation test, conducted by an independent institute in each of the 12 stadiums of the World Cup.
  • Before each of the 64 meetings, officials will test the device themselves.
  • GoalControl is also the official supplier for the FIFA Club World Cup, played in Morocco from the 11 to the 21/12/2013.
