2019 Women's World Cup in France: Canal+ acquires all 52 matches via sublicense from TF1

The pay-TV group Canal+ has acquired, via sub-license with the private free-TV group TF1, the pay-TV rights, in France, to the 2019 Women's World Cup (from 07/06 to 07/07/2019 in France), on 16/11/2017.

"The TF1 group will offer exclusive free-to-air coverage of the tournament’s 25 headline fixtures, including all matches involving the French national team. The Canal+ group will broadcast these top fixtures jointly to its own subscribers, and will carry exclusive coverage of all the other (52) matches," explained TF1.

TF1 acquired the rights of the competition from FIFA at the same time as those of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, on 14/01/2016.
