Manchester City: players and staff give £ 1,000 each for cheaper away tickets

Players and staff members of Manchester City (Premier League, ENG) have each donated 1,000 pounds (about 1,180 euros) to halve the price of tickets for away games, the club announced, on the 09/10/2013.

This is part of the measures taken by Premier League clubs in order to facilitate the movement of supporters to away games. The Premier League has decided to allocate € 4.7m per year from their TV rights (ie € 235,000 per club) until the 2015/16 season, so that clubs set up policies to encourage fans to attend away games.

"Manchester City fans are famous for their fiercely loyal and vocal support. They have stuck with the Club through thick and thin for generations, and both the Club and players want to say thank you," said Tom Glick, chief commercial and operating officer of the Club.
