Lega Serie B: lawyer Mauro Balata, 54, elected president during the league's general assembly

Mauro Balata, 54 years old, a lawyer at the court of appeals in Rome, has been elected president of the Lega Nazionale Professionista Serie B, the national professional football league which organises the Italian Serie B (second division, 22 clubs), during the league's general assembly, in Milan (ITA) on 23/11/2017.

An extraordinary commissioner of the Lega Serie B since 13/09/2017 (the League has not had president since the resignation of Andrea Abodi on 06/03/2017), Mauro Balata gained 17 votes out of 21 (out of the 22 clubs, only Brescia Calcio was absent), with one void vote, two blank votes, and one vote to former referee Gianluca Paparesta, the president of FC Bari 1908, who had withdrawn his candidacy before the election.
