Winter Olympic Games: Airbnb (private rentals), becomes official supporter of PyeongChang 2018

Airbnb, a private rental accommodation service, has become a partner of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games (from 09 to 25/02/2018) in PyeongChang (South Korea) on 22/11/2017.

Airbnb has the status of fourth level "official supporter" in the sponsorship hierarchy of the event. The group is expected "to handle the influx of visitors amid growing concerns over lack of rooms and high prices in the host city. Airbnb will cooperate with locals to provide accommodation for travelers to PyeongChang, 180 kilometers east of Seoul, and in neighboring cities during the Olympics. Airbnb signed an agreement in January 2017 with Gangwon Province, where PyeongChang is located, to offer accommodation and promotional support for the winter sports event," said the organising committee.

"During the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, 48,000 Airbnb homes hosted 85,000 visitors, who accounted for 17% of the total 500,000 visitors, according to the American company," recalled the organisers of the event.
