Media: Bundesliga and 21^st Century Fox announce global partnership from 2015/16

The broadcasting conglomerate 21^st Century Fox has acquired the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga - the German first division, in North America, South America, most of Asia, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium, the DFL (German Professional Football League) announced on the 14/10/2013.

The agreement, which comes into effect from the 2015/16 season, focuses on five seasons (until the end of the financial year 2019/20) in North America, South America and Asia, and two seasons (2016/17) in three European countries. In total, 21^st Century Fox will be able to broadcast the Bundesliga in 80 countries worldwide, including the United States, Brazil, China (in English), Indonesia and Mexico. India, and Oceania are excluded from the agreement.

The conglomerate, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., will distribute and broadcast the Bundesliga on three of its subsidiary platforms: Fox International Channels, Fox Sports and Sky Italia. These platforms will have access to 306 games per season of the German first division, as well as the Bundesliga relegation play-offs and the German Super Cup.
