Premier League: Red Bull want to buy Premier League club in London or Liverpool

The Austrian-based energy drinks company wants to buy a football club in the Premier League, according to The Mirror newspaper, on the 14/10/2013.

Ralf Rangnick, sporting director of Red Bull Salzburg has been instructed to find a Premier League club for the Austrian company. Red Bull has clubs in Germany, Austria, the United States, Brazil and Ghana. The objective of the brand is to break into the UK market, but with an eye on challenging in Europe.

“Red Bull want a team to take into the Champions League. It is the only market they have not reached yet. Ideally this would be in the London area, but both Everton and Liverpool interest them too because it would not take much to get them to that level" said a Mirror source.

  • Gerard Houllier, a former coach of France (1992-93), has been the global sports director in charge of football at Red Bull since the 24/06/2012.
  • Red Bull are also involved in Formula 1 with two teams: Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso.
